2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Choose when new real estate license starts

Beginning 07/01/2025, if you switch between a broker license and a salesperson license, you choose when the new one starts. On the state application, you can pick approval date or the day your current license expires. The Iowa Real Estate Commission must include this choice on the form. This does not change who qualifies or the fees.

Sign brokerage agreement before showings or offers

Beginning 07/01/2025, a broker and client must sign a brokerage agreement before the broker lists a property for sale. They also must sign before the broker shows a property to a buyer, or, if no showing happens, before the broker makes an offer for the buyer. This rule does not apply to people attending an open house or auction, buyers of properties with more than four dwelling units, or properties not intended for human habitation.
