3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
Beginning 07/01/2025, an owner or lessee of a homestead or secure farmstead can ask a district court for a temporary injunction. The court stops a person from flying a surveillance‑equipped drone that harasses them in violation of this law. Orders can last up to two years and can be renewed before they expire. The law also protects media rights: others cannot claim ownership of recordings that identify you or your animals, equipment, buildings, or land without your consent.
Beginning 07/01/2025, the law bans outsiders from flying drones over a secure farmstead within 400 feet of farm animals, equipment, or buildings. The ban also covers drones with cameras or gear that record images, sounds, or data that can identify farm details. Flights are allowed when the owner or lessee flies, or when the owner consents. The secured area does not include space inside city limits.
Beginning 07/01/2025, the law defines what farms and farm assets are covered. Farm animals include cows, pigs, poultry, farm deer, and horses, among others. A farmstead is land owned or leased by a farmer, used for farming, that made at least $15,000 from farm sales last year. Land inside city limits does not count. These definitions decide when the drone rules and protections apply.
