Hospitals, rural emergency hospitals, and health care facilities must have a state license to open or operate. The department enforces these rules. This applies statewide beginning 07/01/2026.
Beginning 07/01/2026, the department does not issue or renew licenses for hospitals, rural emergency hospitals, or health care facilities to entities tied to China, Russia, or North Korea.
