3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.
Shops and paid solicitors cannot give gifts, cash, or rebates to steer your glass claim. Shops cannot lie on estimates, work orders, or coverage, charge unreasonable fees, damage your car, or do unneeded work to raise payment. Notices and invoices must match the estimate’s font and size. Repeat rule‑breaking can be treated as knowing violations, and any violation counts as an unfair trade practice. These rules apply to policies issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2025.
Before work starts, the shop must tell you if your car has driver-assist features and if calibration is needed. If the shop cannot meet the maker’s specs, it must tell you to use a dealer or qualified specialist. For insurer-billed work under your own policy, the shop must confirm you filed a claim and have a claim or referral number before you sign a contract. The shop must give a good‑faith price estimate when you hire it, and an updated estimate before starting work. Afterward, you must get an itemized invoice, a receipt when you pay, and clear notice if calibration was done and if it succeeded; do not rely on driver‑assist features until a successful calibration.
When you file a first‑party glass claim, you can pick the shop. Your insurer cannot force you to use a certain shop to get payment. You also cannot sign away your insurance rights or benefits to a shop; any such contract is void. You may still authorize the insurer to pay the shop directly. These protections apply to policies issued or renewed on or after July 1, 2025.
