County parcel records filed with no fees

Beginning July 1, 2025, county auditors must prepare and file a district parcel record with the county recorder. It applies to each drainage or levee district in the county. The first record is filed when the auditor first receives the survey and report, or the permanent survey, plat, and profile. It lists every forty-acre tract or fraction. It includes the legal description, parcel ID if known, and owner names from the auditor’s transfer books. Auditors must send any updates to the recorder within a reasonable time. Counties cannot charge these districts any filing fee or other costs for these records. If a record was not on file before July 1, 2025, the auditor must file it by June 30, 2026. This one-time deadline rule ends July 1, 2026.
