Idaho residents only for dealer fraud fund

Beginning July 1, 2026, only Idaho residents, or people who were Idaho residents when they bought or leased the vehicle, can get money from the Idaho Consumer Asset Recovery Fund. You must have a final Idaho court judgment for actual loss from dealer fraud or violations of Idaho consumer or motor vehicle laws. Judgments on or after July 1, 2014 qualify. File a verified claim with the department no sooner than 45 days and no later than one year after the judgment becomes final, and not while an appeal is pending. If you sue a licensed dealer and may later claim the fund, you must also serve the board. Dealers, banks, and floorplan lenders cannot file claims, keeping the fund for consumers.
