Faster electrical, plumbing, HVAC inspections and refunds

Beginning July 1, 2026, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC inspections move faster. If your requested inspection is not done within 48 business hours, you can hire a qualified third party. You must tell the state or local office and give them the third‑party report. You get back the inspection fee you paid to the government; the party that was paid for the missed inspection must issue the refund. If your job fails an inspection and you do not get a reason within 3 business days, you get 10% of the inspection fee back. Third‑party inspectors must meet state qualifications and follow local standards.
