Statewide Alzheimer's and dementia education program

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Indiana State Department of Health runs a statewide effort on Alzheimer's and dementia. It works with a national Alzheimer's group. It also partners with local health departments and the division of aging. Employers, hospitals, insurers, nonprofits, and community groups take part. The program teaches signs and symptoms, personal risk, diagnosis and treatment options, and which groups face higher risk. The department and its partner train health care and human services workers on diagnosis, treatment, research advances, and care planning. It posts the training information on the department's website. The department can accept federal, public, and private grants and seek federal waivers to bring in more funding.
