Child Services must see child before closure

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Department of Child Services must meet an alleged victim in person within 30 days before closing a case. This applies before the department concludes an assessment or before it dismisses or ends a child in need of services (CHINS) case in juvenile court. The timing must follow IC 31-33-8-7.
