Students gain sports-related school transfer options

Beginning July 1, 2025, the law removes bans on school transfers sought mainly for sports. This applies to students without legal settlement in the district they seek to attend. Approval is not guaranteed; existing capacity limits and deadlines still apply. The former-district transfer path requires legal settlement there for at least two consecutive school years immediately before moving. The move must be to an adjacent district.
