Under-18 path to high school equivalency

Beginning July 1, 2026, the program serves people 18 and older. It also serves some under‑18 students who meet three steps. They must finish the Indiana Career Explorer program, pass a department‑approved readiness test, and get a written recommendation. The recommender is a parent if the student attends a nonaccredited nonpublic school with less than one employee, the school leader (or designee) if the school has more than one employee, or a judge.

Equivalency pilot extended; graduation counts adjusted

The high school equivalency pilot program stays in place through June 30, 2028. From June 29, 2026 to June 30, 2028, schools can remove students who move into or participate in the pilot from four‑year graduation cohorts. This removal does not apply if the student does not finish the pilot within two years.
