Beginning July 1, 2026, posting someone’s personal information to cause harm counts as a threat under Indiana’s intimidation law. It applies when the poster intends injury, property damage, or another crime against the person. Personal information means any two or more of these: name, Social Security number, home or other property address, prior legal name, phone number, employer name or address, or a place the person often visits. A property address on a real estate or map site is not personal information if it is not shown with the owner’s or occupant’s identity. A post means sending content to more than one person on a social media platform, and a social media platform must be public, allow accounts, enable user interaction, show user posts, and allow comments or messages.
