More scholarship options for health students

Kentucky residents in Kentucky health care programs can qualify for workforce scholarships covering more credentials. Eligible credentials include physician assistant and dietitian licenses, nutritionist certificates, and specified alcohol and drug counselor and professional art therapist credentials. For students in state-registered nursing aide training and competency evaluation programs, these scholarships cannot require work for a specific health care partner. They cannot impose a required work period with that partner or count as a job offer under federal nursing aide training rules.

Ambulance services keep simpler approval paths

Specified approval exceptions for hospital-owned and government emergency ambulance services continue beyond July 1, 2026, instead of expiring. A simpler certificate-of-need review also remains available for qualifying proposals. Services issued a certificate of need on or after July 14, 2022, can seek a license without a new certificate. The state emergency medical services board cannot set a deadline for seeking a license after receiving a certificate. Under a state regulation, the board can require progress reports every six months or yearly until the service applies.
