Listed payees can collect old state checks

Kentucky authorizes payment of listed state checks that were not presented for payment within five years after issuance. Payments go to the named people, their personal representatives, or the listed firms. Examples include two Brian Samuels checks for $168.41 and $168.22, and a Cemex Inc. check for $27,262.36. This does not create a general right to collect other old state checks. The law takes effect immediately upon becoming law.

Named claimants get overdue Kentucky payments

Kentucky funds payments for audited, approved claims owed to people, businesses, and public entities named in the law. These claims went unpaid because earlier funding expired, fell short, or required purchasing paperwork was missing. Money comes from the state's General Fund, restricted funds, federal funds, and capital funds. Listed payments include $1,402.85 for Misty Kenwright and $222,000 for Magellan RX Management, Inc. The law takes effect immediately upon becoming law; only named claimants receive the listed amounts.
