East Carroll sheriff retirees get premiums paid

The East Carroll Parish sheriff pays 100% of qualifying retired sheriffs’ and deputy sheriffs’ covered group insurance premiums. This covers hospital, surgical, medical expense, vision, dental, and life insurance, paid from the sheriff’s general fund. Retirees must retire directly from that office on or after January 1, 2022, and qualify for Sheriff’s Pension and Relief Fund benefits. At retirement, they must meet one of three tests: age 62 or older with at least 15 years of service credit, including 12 with the office; age 55 or older with at least 20 years, including 15 with the office; or any age with at least 30 years, including 20 with the office.
