Beginning with the 2024–2025 school year, Louisiana public and state-approved nonpublic schools must use a 10-point scale to check initial TOPS scholarship eligibility. This applies even when a school uses another grading scale. Minimum GPAs stay unchanged on a 4.00 scale: Opportunity, 2.50; Performance, 3.25; Honors, 3.50; and TOPS-Tech, 2.50. Only grades from the required TOPS core courses count. Nonpublic schools that did not use the 10-point scale in 2024–2025 must also recheck certain graduates' grades. This covers 2024–2025 graduates applying for TOPS with cumulative GPAs below 3.50 whose grades were submitted before the law took effect. Schools must recalculate their 2024–2025 TOPS core course grades using teachers' original percentage scores. They must recertify and submit those grades to the Louisiana Department of Education by August 31, 2025.
