Louisiana’s Department of Energy and Natural Resources can charge applicants a fee when it grants requests for faster processing or review. This fee covers the department’s direct costs and comes on top of other fees. Overtime charges cannot exceed 1.5 times the standard hourly wage, including related benefits, of the highest-paid eligible employee needed. An added administrative charge is up to 20% of total overtime costs, with a $500 minimum. Applicants also pay for requested shipping or delivery beyond normal service. The department can waive the fee when its own error, mistake, or delay is the sole reason faster processing is needed.
