Fewer termination-pay protections for workers’ profits interests

Beginning August 1, 2025, Louisiana’s termination-pay protections exclude certain employee profits interests. The exclusion covers interests granted or issued by an entity taxed as a partnership for federal income tax purposes. Workers cannot rely on R.S. 23:631 or R.S. 23:634 for payment related to those interests. The exclusion does not change rules for other amounts owed when employment ends.
