New alcohol licenses for Howard County theaters

Beginning July 1, 2025, Howard County's licensing board can issue Class MT beer, wine, and liquor licenses to theater owners. Owners must hold a crowd control training certification. Sales are limited to on-site drinking by patrons with tickets to current or future movies at that theater. The board can set sale days, hours, annual fees, and other license limits and requirements. It must adopt rules to carry out the law. Existing theater alcohol license holders can renew only under the Class MT license.
