Maryland sets Governor and Lieutenant Governor pay

The law sets annual salaries for Maryland’s four-year term beginning January 20, 2027. The Governor receives $195,000 in year 1, $202,000 in each of years 2 and 3, and $210,000 in year 4. The Lieutenant Governor receives $175,000 in year 1, $180,000 in each of years 2 and 3, and $185,000 in year 4. The General Assembly can reduce, but not raise, the Commission’s recommended salaries; any amended resolution sets the applicable amounts. Under the constitutional process, Commission recommendations apply if lawmakers do not adopt the resolution within 50 calendar days after introduction. These salaries are paid from public funds, with no direct household benefit.
