Police policies and EMS outreach delayed

Police agencies must publish required policies by January 1, 2027, not 2026. Maine EMS develops and, as resources allow, implements a public information campaign by July 1, 2027. The related progress report is due December 15, 2026. The public gets access and outreach later.

Child mental health pilot delayed to 2027

The health department issues the grant request for a child assertive community treatment team by March 1, 2027, not March 1, 2026. Grants last up to two years and must include workforce incentives. Families in the Lewiston or Bangor service area get the pilot later.

School AEDs and training start later

Schools must provide AED access, but start in the 2027–2028 school year instead of 2026–2027. The state also sends de-escalation and behavior training guidance by September 1, 2027, one year later. Schools still must adopt and follow these safety steps.

Tick lab lottery delayed to 2027

The Lottery Commission must start the tick lab instant game by July 1, 2027, not July 1, 2026. When the game starts, 20% of net proceeds go to the Tick Laboratory Operations Fund and 80% go to the General Fund. The status and revenue report moves to December 15, 2029.

Arts and school studies delayed, small funds

The Maine Arts Commission AI and copyright report is now due January 15, 2027. The Education Department starts the personal finance group in January 2027 and reports by March 1, 2027. The teacher mentoring review report is due February 15, 2027. The law gives $25,000 in FY 2026–27 to the Arts Commission and $20,000 to the Education Department to support this work.
