No marriage licenses under 18

Beginning May 5, 2025, Maine stops issuing marriage licenses to anyone under 18. Clerks and the State Registrar must deny applications from minors. The law repeals prior rules that allowed younger marriages. If you are 17 or younger, you cannot get a marriage license in Maine.
