8-cent-per-pound credit for Maine producers

Beginning with tax years that start on or after January 1, 2026, Maine offers a tax credit for renewable chemical producers. You can claim $0.08 for each pound you produce in Maine, against tax on that year’s production income. To qualify, you must follow the program rules in subsection 5 and show the Department of Economic and Community Development that at least 75% of contractor harvest workers meet Employment Security Law rules. If you do not hire harvesters directly, you may get the paperwork from the landowner or the contracting entity.
