More plate decals for veterans
You can get new commemorative decals for your Maine veterans plates if you earned the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal. Decals are also available if you served in the U.S. Space Force, the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, or the NOAA Commissioned Officer Corps. You must be honorably discharged and show official proof of the medal or your service. You must have special veterans plates; the state issues one decal set per plate set. The fee is capped at $5 per set. Put one decal on the front plate and one on the back plate.
Funding to run decal program
The state provides Highway Fund money to the Secretary of State to create and manage these decals. It provides $1,190 in 2025–26 and $933 in 2026–27 for decals and related costs. It also provides a one-time $7,056 in 2025–26 for computer programming. Total Highway Fund amounts are $8,246 in 2025–26 and $933 in 2026–27.
