Funds to run architect education program

The law funds staff and operations to manage the new continuing education rules. Administrative Services gets $11,117 in 2025-26 and $14,685 in 2026-27. The Office of Professional and Occupational Regulation gets $79,800 in 2025-26 and $107,160 in 2026-27, including one Office Specialist I. The department total is $90,917 in 2025-26 and $121,845 in 2026-27. The money comes from Other Special Revenue Funds.

Yearly approval and fees for training providers

If you offer continuing education courses, you must apply to the Board each year in the form it requires. You must include any fee required under section 222. The Board reviews and approves courses under its rules. This applies beginning July 1, 2026.

New annual training for Maine architects

Starting July 1, 2026, Maine architects must complete at least 12 hours a year of board‑approved training in health, safety, and welfare. You must keep proof of your hours and submit it when you renew. You cannot get credit for the same course twice in one renewal cycle. If this is your first architect license from any place, you are exempt for two years from that license date, but only if you were not licensed anywhere for two or more years before. The Board sets detailed rules for how courses are approved and what records you must keep.
