Homeowners protected from old foreclosure debts
The law protects some past foreclosure cases. If your claim arose before January 11, 2024, and a prior foreclosure was dismissed because the lender’s right‑to‑cure notice was defective, the lender cannot later sue you for amounts that were due as of the final judgment dismissing that case. Courts also cannot apply the Finch v. U.S. Bank (2024 Me. 2) ruling to claims that arose before January 11, 2024.
