Bill Overview
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.
Eel harvest allowed under wholesaler license
If you hold a baitfish wholesaler license, you may take eels under that license. The law adds eels to the list of species you can take. The amendment text here does not set dates or limits.
New ice-hole marking rule for wholesalers
Licensed baitfish wholesalers who take live baitfish for resale using drop nets through the ice must mark every hole. Use evergreen boughs around the hole or fluorescent biodegradable tape. The tape must hang at least 3 feet above the ice and circle the hole so it is visible from all sides. Expect small time and material costs to comply.
Deletes one baitfish wholesaler clause
The law deletes subparagraph (5) from the baitfish wholesaler rules in 12 MRSA §12551-A, sub-§6, ¶B. How this change affects your license depends on what that removed clause said, which is not shown here.
