New board rules for Maine Development Foundation
The Maine Development Foundation board has at least 15 directors. Each year the board sets how many directors will serve the next year. Corporators elect directors so half are from private-sector corporators and half are from public-sector corporators. The Governor appoints two directors from ex officio corporators. Most directors are term-limited: no more than five years in a row. Elected directors serve four-year staggered terms and cannot be elected for more than two terms in a row. Corporators elect the chair, vice-chair, and treasurer. The board appoints a president who is not a current director. Once appointed, the president becomes a director and the chief executive officer.
