Lobster license holders: secondary-zone trap review
Effective June 10, 2025, the Maine Department of Marine Resources seeks input from lobster management policy councils. Using that input, the department recommends what share of a license holder’s traps may be fished in a secondary zone listed on the license. The department must send a report with recommendations to the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources by December 3, 2025. This sets up a review and does not change current trap limits yet.
