The law lets you keep hens on your own residential property. Cities and counties cannot make rules that ban hens at homes. A "chicken" here means a female domesticated bird raised for meat or eggs. Roosters (fully mature male chickens) are not covered. Other local rules that do not amount to a ban may still apply.
