MaineCare now covers up to two hearing aids
Beginning July 1, 2026, MaineCare covers hearing aids for each hearing‑impaired ear if you qualify. Your hearing loss must be documented by a primary care provider or a licensed audiologist. The device must be provided by a licensed audiologist or a licensed hearing aid dealer. Coverage for a second ear applies if you meet department rules on severity, school enrollment, vocational training, work needs, or needs your primary care provider identifies. The law funds this in 2026-27 with $102,946 from the General Fund and $218,379 in federal funds; no funds are listed for 2025-26.
