Warden leads Bolduc with deputies
The Maine State Prison warden is the chief administrator of the Bolduc Correctional Facility and reports to the commissioner. The warden can appoint deputy wardens under the Civil Service Law, and a designated deputy acts with the warden’s powers when the warden is away or unable to serve. The director (warden) can appoint one assistant director under the Civil Service Law, who steps in when the director is absent or unable to serve. The warden must supervise employees, grounds, buildings, equipment, and must control prisoners under departmental rules.
Education and job training for prisoners
The warden must keep suitable academic and career and technical classes for prisoners. The facility must provide needed equipment. It must hire qualified instructors as needed. These programs support learning and job skills while in custody.
