Clean energy projects get new financing

The law creates a pilot run by the Efficiency Maine Trust through the Maine Clean Energy and Sustainability Accelerator. It finances qualified renewable power and grid technology, including storage, microgrids, and smart grid tools. The Accelerator can use debt, credit enhancements, aggregation and warehousing, equity, leases, direct loans, and other board‑approved products. Within 24 months after the law takes effect, the Trust uses at least $1 million of Accelerator funds for creditworthy projects. This requirement applies only if the Accelerator has enough funds. By January 29, 2028, the Trust reports results and funded projects to the Legislature.
