Time limits on local housing financing districts

The law sets a clear time limit for municipal affordable housing tax districts. A town sets the program’s start and end tax years in its approval. The program must end by the earlier of two dates: 30 years after the tax year the housing is placed in service (shown by a municipal certificate of occupancy), or 35 years after the tax year the State director approves the district. This applies to municipal affordable housing TIF programs statewide.
