Maine sets plan to merge broadband agencies

The law directs the Maine Connectivity Authority to review the laws that govern the ConnectMaine Authority. It must work with the ConnectMaine Authority. The goal is to move ConnectMaine’s functions to the Maine Connectivity Authority. The Authority must send its recommendations, with any proposed bill language, to the Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee by January 15, 2027. The transition of functions must happen by October 1, 2027. After the report, that committee may file a bill to the 133rd Legislature in 2027.
