Year-round daylight time after approvals
The law moves Maine to eastern daylight time all year after two steps. First, federal law or regulation must allow year-round daylight time. Second, every state in the Eastern Time Zone and the District of Columbia must also use daylight time all year. The Secretary of State tracks these conditions, gives public notice when each is met, and then announces the start date. If both are met while Maine is on daylight time, the change starts right away; otherwise it starts on the next daylight time start date.
