State tracks firefighting foam supplies

The Office of the State Fire Marshal must start a statewide inventory of aqueous film‑forming foam (AFFF) by November 1, 2025. It must list every public entity in Maine that has 5 gallons or more of AFFF and ask private entities for similar information. When finished, the office must post the list on its public website and send it to the Environment and Natural Resources and the Criminal Justice and Public Safety committees by January 1, 2028. Either committee may report related legislation to the Second Regular Session of the 133rd Legislature. The state funds one limited‑period Office Assistant II to do this work: $85,732 in 2025‑26 ($74,834 pay, $10,898 other) and $86,378 in 2026‑27 ($75,480 pay, $10,898 other).
