Free vital records for unaccompanied and emancipated minors
If you are an unaccompanied or emancipated minor, you can get certified or noncertified copies of your vital records. The state registrar gives these copies to you for free. With your written permission, records can be sent to your shelter program director or their designee, a runaway or homeless youth services group, or a continuum of care agency where you are a client. They can also go to a social worker, school administrator, or teacher who provides you services. An unaccompanied minor is under 18 and not with a parent or guardian when asking, or gives written permission to an approved adult. An emancipated minor is one a court has ordered emancipated under Title 15, section 3506-A.
