Maine bans self-use assault evidence kits

The law bans anyone from selling or offering self‑administered sexual assault evidence kits in Maine. This covers kits marketed for people to collect their own evidence outside a licensed hospital or licensed health care practitioner. It does not change whether evidence from such kits can be used in court; judges still apply normal rules. Selling a banned kit is presumed to be an unfair trade practice, allowing actions under the Maine Unfair Trade Practices Act.
