Upfront total prices for rentals and tickets

In Maine, ads for short-term stays and event tickets must show the total price. The total must include any mandatory fees, like resort, service, or convenience fees, and it must be shown more prominently than any other price. Businesses may not mislead you about fees. Mandatory fees do not include taxes or other government charges, reasonable shipping for physical goods, or optional add-ons. If a seller follows federal rule 16 CFR Part 464, this state rule does not apply. The Attorney General enforces this law, and hiding or misrepresenting fees is an unfair and deceptive act under state law.
