Monthly tech fee for incarcerated residents

Residents who use Department-provided technology pay a monthly fee. The fee is the smaller of 7% of the money the resident received that month after required deductions or $35. No fee applies if the resident received less than $100 after those deductions or if the technology was for research in the resident’s own criminal or civil case. Money put directly into a phone account and money from a credit improvement loan do not count toward the fee. Facilities deposit fees into the Resident Technology Fund, which receives $59,088 in 2025–26 and $59,088 in 2026–27.
