Maine income taxes follow 2024 federal rules

Maine now uses federal tax rules in effect through December 31, 2024. This applies to tax years that start on or after January 1, 2024. Earlier years change only where the federal code, as of December 31, 2024, specifically says so. Some people will owe less state tax, others more, based on those federal changes. The law took effect July 1, 2025.
