EMS can carry and give controlled medicines

Ambulance services, nontransporting EMS units, and trained community paramedics can get, carry, give, and supply certain controlled medicines. This covers EMS personnel and community paramedicine clinicians working mainly outside hospitals. Providers must be licensed or authorized by the Maine Emergency Medical Services Board. They must follow the Board’s rules. This took effect immediately when approved.
