Broader expertise on adult fatality panel
The law sets the panel at up to 15 members. Required seats include two Attorney General attorneys and state staff for licensing, aging and disability, and adult protective services. It also includes advocacy and ombudsman leaders, a public member with lived experience, clinicians with I/DD or autism expertise, provider representatives, and a forensic pathologist. The Commissioner appoints members unless named otherwise. This strengthens reviews of deaths and serious injuries of adults receiving services.
Broader oversight for adults in care
The law counts adults getting home- and community-based services and those under public guardianship as adults receiving services. Reviews and investigations can include public guardianship records. For deceased adults receiving services, records must list name, age, sex, race or ethnicity, guardianship status, and type of disability or condition. This gives fuller information to review deaths and serious injuries.
