Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Homeowners can do electrical work

If you own and live in an existing single-family home, you can do your own electrical installations without a board permit. You must both own and occupy the home. Your work must meet the National Electrical Code or other standards the board approves. Rules for new single-family construction do not apply to this owner-done work.

Incidental electrical work allowed for employees

Regular employees of a property owner or lessee, and general manual laborers, can do incidental minor electrical work without licensing or permitting under this law. Incidental means light fixtures and switches done by chance. The work cannot require electrical installation calculations.

Wastewater plant staff electrical exemption

Regular employees of a wastewater treatment plant can make electrical installations in or about the plant without a board license or permit for that work. The exemption only covers work done in or around the plant.
