2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.
The law requires pay when you report at your employer’s request and your shift is canceled or cut. You get the lesser of two hours at your regular rate or the full pay for the shift you were scheduled to work. This applies only if your employer usually has at least 10 employees for more than 120 days in a year. Seasonal industry workers and public employees covered by a union contract are not included. No reporting pay is owed if you are not required or cannot work because of bad weather, a disaster or civil emergency, your illness, or a workplace injury. If your employer made and documented a good‑faith effort to tell you not to come in, they do not owe reporting pay. If the notice failed or was blocked and you still report, you must do assigned work if able; if no work exists, you get the two‑hour minimum.
Violating the reporting‑pay law or listed wage‑and‑hour rules can lead to a $100 to $500 fine per violation. The Department of Labor may issue routine rules to implement and enforce these requirements.
