Temporary bear dog training for local residents

Residents in the parts of Washington and Hancock Counties south of Route 9 can train dogs on bear. From July 1 until the fourth day before the open bear season, you may use up to six dogs at once. Do not train on land where other laws ban it. You must get the landowner’s permission to train on land used for wild blueberry production. This exception ends May 1, 2025.
