State studies longer deer muzzle-loading season
The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife must study making the special muzzle-loading deer season longer than 6 days in more districts with milder winters. By January 1, 2026, the department submits a report to the Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. The report includes findings, recommendations, and a map. The map marks districts with longer seasons now, districts that could be extended, and districts that should stay at 6 days. The law does not change current hunting seasons or permits, and the committee may report a bill based on the findings.
