2 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 1 costs, 1 mixed.

New fines and appeals for weights and measures

The Commissioner can fine you up to $5,000 per violation, and each day can count as a new one. Total fines against one person are capped at $50,000. This power does not cover subchapter 2-A or firewood sales (subchapter 7-A). Before a final penalty, the department must send notice and give you 15 days to request a hearing in writing. If you ask on time, you get a hearing under state contested-case rules and can appeal to Superior Court within 30 days. Collection is paused during appeal, but interest runs at the state rates in Title 14. The department can charge you for investigation costs, require payment before renewing your license, and enforce penalties in court.

Fines for firewood sellers

If you sell firewood, each violation can bring a fine from $50 to $2,000. The rule aims to make sure firewood is measured and labeled correctly for buyers.
