Jail work earns time off sentences

If you are in jail and do eligible work, you can get time off your sentence. You earn up to one day off for every 16 hours of work. Eligible work includes public works, fixing property owned by a charity, and work projects inside the jail. If you are jailed for not paying fines under Title 17-A, section 1711, the credit rate in that law applies instead.
